Qualifications for Wish Recipients
Recipient Criteria
- The individual must be 18 years or older.
- The individual must be managing cancer.
- The wish must be from the wish recipient. The wish recipient must be able to communicate the wish and must be able to comprehend the wish experience. The individual must be physically and mentally competent to participate in and enjoy the wish.
- The individual must be unable to financially afford to obtain the wish with his or her own resources. (This does not mean destitute)
- The wish recipients must be patients at one of the 7 hospitals OneGift Inc. is affiliated with: Clara Maass Medical Center, Morristown Memorial Hospital, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Overlook Hospital, Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, and Somerset Medical Center.
- The individual must receive clearance from the appropriate medical doctor to travel.
- All wishes subject to approval by OneGift Inc. No wish may be granted if it deviates from the financial or geographic guidelines set by the wish committee.
- The wish must be the wish recipient’s one and only wish. The wish recipient must not have had a wish granted by any other wish-granting organization previously, and must not be currently working with another wish-granting organization. No person may receive more than one wish from OneGift Inc.
- All arrangements must be made by the wish manager or representative of OneGift Inc.
Restrictions
- Travel is restricted within the continental United States. Exceptions must be approved by the President or Vice President of OneGift Inc.
- The wish must be safe. The nature of the wish must not present any danger to the wish recipient or any sponsored participants. This includes travel wishes that may be detrimental to one’s health.
- The wish must be legal. The wish must not violate any laws.
- OneGift Inc. is not responsible for any car rentals.
- Wishes are limited to a predetermined budget.
- No material goods are given as a wish.
